“Hopefully a nice and strong black tea,” the King replied, glancing back. One could easily imagine why he preferred a stronger taste. “Nice and steeped well. Hopefully it’ll have been sitting for long enough already."
He was dutiful in the way he escorted the Queen. As always, his back was straight, his arm held out in a manner most gentleman-like and accommodating to his wife. And yet for however formal it had seemed, his eyes never hesitated to gaze over to the lady he escorted, with a look very fond indeed. Add his other hand to pat at Idun’s time and again, and the King’s walking habits were complete.
For a moment, Idun stared at her husband, before batting at his chest with one hand. "I meant of child, you fool,” she said, a light laugh leaving her lips. “Do you think we’ll be having a boy or another little girl?”
Honestly.
Idun enjoyed those moments when they didn’t have to be King and Queen. It was a role she was still adjusting into, even if he had settled quite nicely. Then again, he would have been trained for ruling all his life. Her own lessons were… a little more lax. As they would be for any more girls they had.
Memories of her older sister swirled in her mind, a woman she had a feeling she was losing contact with. Those few years when she too was being trained to rule as Queen, before a brother was born. That was what Elsa’s future held for her, unless there was a prince produced.
