A soft sigh escaped Elsa as she was lead back to her desk, away from the window where she wanted to keep checking to see if he’d come out to play for the day. Focus Elsa! She told herself, wanting desperately to go out and play for awhile. If her mama was right, the work wouldn’t take too long… especially if she could keep herself from wandering back to the window and wasting more of the day time.

“Oh…” she sighed again, more sadly this time as her eyes wandered back to the window, no longer able to see the street down below. “Have I met any princes or kings yet?” she wondered as she picked up her book and headed to her bed, where she and her mother would more comfortably be able to read together. She couldn’t remember ever meeting any other royals, but then again, she had only begun to learn the importance of titles and the future in the recent past.

Idun wasn’t blind–she could tell there was something other than the sunshine making Elsa want to go outside. But if her little girl had a friend she wanted to keep secret, the Queen wouldn’t push. It was probably a good thing Elsa was making more friends–it was lovely that her daughters had such a close relationship, but such co-dependence probably wasn’t healthy. Instead of asking questions, she simply settled herself on the princess’s bed, a space next to her for Elsa to curl into.

“A few, when you were very little,” her mother explained, thinking of the few episodes of toddlers meeting, kings chatting while she was left to watch over them with the nurses. Her little one hidden behind her skirts, staring at the strangers with big blue eyes. Having to be nudged forward to meet them. A fond smile decorated Idun’s face. “You used to fuss when you had to wear your tiara for it.”
