He had been relaxing, for once, by the fire. Wine glass in hand, a book in the other. His wife for company. But those relaxed shoulders stiffened at such words, and it was only after a pause and a sip of the drink that he could reply.

”There is no mistake, Idun,” he replied, his eyes cast upon the pages as if he were reading, “In time, things will come around. It’s all for the best.”

Whether the man was as certain as his words were was another issue entirely.

At his dismissal, Idun stiffened too. Letting her hands drop until they were simply resting in her lap, she watched her husband for a moment more before speaking.

"So you’ve said,“ she murmured. "But have you seen our children these past few days? They’re utterly miserable, Agdar. I’ve never seen them so despondent. Elsa will never admit it to you, because she fears disappointing you. But I’ve seen them. And poor Anna’s so confused, and lonely as well. She’s… she’s never known life without her big sister there."

Eyebrows drawn together in sadness for their princesses, she asked again, "Are you sure separating them was truly the right thing to do?”
