asked:
"Mama, can't I get out of bed already?" the girl whined, fidgeting in her sheets. The dreaded scarlet was mostly on its way out of the child, and Anna was beginning to grow impatient. And surely that impatience was a great thing, all things considered.

It would be hard to give the child the answer of ‘you’re meant to be resting’ when she had already spent so long in bed. And so, while adjusting the sheets back to their original neatness, Idun caught her daughter’s eye. Such a whine would normally get Anna what she wanted, but it was rather understandable. Still, if she allowed it to slip one time, what good would that do?

"If you ask nicely, I may let you walk around the infirmary–as long as you get back into bed when I tell you,“ she said at last, lifting the girl so she was sat on her lap, rather than in bed.
